Navigating Life's Challenges

Cancer Support Services

A compassionate support program for patients and families living with cancer

Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is one of our deepest fears. When this happens, the consequences often impact greatly on an individual and on families. Responsibilities shift, values and beliefs are questioned and endless decisions call for immediate action without a clear understanding of our options or our goals. Regardless of the prognosis, this event permanently changes our lives and leaves us vulnerable to depression and other problems that undermine our hope and complicate our medical care.

Thanks to the generous support of the Monadnock United Way, MAPS offers free support groups to individuals with cancer and to family members caring for someone with cancer. These groups meet weekly for support, education, spiritual reflection and healing. In addition, MAPS offers individual or family counseling for those who are need additional care.

A weekly support group for family members, partners and primary caregivers.

Caregivers and loved ones often find that cancer has changed their lives as well as the life of the person they care for. Caregivers are often faced with their own unique set of feelings and concerns, which are part of caring for a loved one who is ill.

This support group provides an environment where feelings can be openly expressed, healing resources shared, and self-care encouraged. Taking time to discuss these concerns, rewards, and challenges can benefit not only the caregiver, but the person whom they care for as well. Weekly attendance is not required at this group.

When: Thursdays, 5:00 – 6:30 PM.
Where: MAPS Counseling Services
19 Federal Street, Keene
Contact: Vincent Pignatiello, Psy.D.
