Behavioral health records are the documentation of a patient’s condition, treatment, and progress throughout thetherapeutic process…and form the foundation for legal protection. Inadequate records “benefit a patient’s claim inlegal proceedings.” This workshop will delineate the information necessary to safeguard and safely manage patientrecords including the application to special populations. Of particular interest, Attorney Bedard will provide attendeeswith a clear, concise but comprehensive understanding of HIPAA and HITECH laws as they apply to ongoing mentalhealth practice.
About the Presenter
Attorney Bedard is the managing director of Ransmeier & Spellman pc of Concord, NewHampshire. He is a New Hampshire native who represents large and small businesses, not-for-profit corporations, individuals and municipalities. Biron is a frequent presenter on legal issues inmental health, the release of medical records, and medical records confidentiality.
